Great place. Staying here with 24 teenage pupils and it's a great place for a trip. The bus and train to Paris work out OK but if you plan an itinerary avoid the idea of being in Paris by 9am, the bus was at 740 am

"Richards place was just what our family needed for our adventures in France 9/17-28/2018. We were in France for a wedding the following week in the Marseille region and the group decided a trip to Paris the week before the wedding would be a great way to kick off our journey. Because we were a family of 16, our lodging needed to accommodate a variety of requests from parents age 65+ to the youngest age 8. My sister, niece and I arrived a day before the rest of the group with the idea we would add some touches to the guest rooms but when we arrived there was nothing we needed to do. We were met by Florence who gave us the keys, a tour of the property and provided basic information for our stay. And while she did not speak English, we/I did not speak French so it was a lot of smiling and nodding. We made the communication work. I love that about traveling abroad – the ability to communicate even though our command of the host language is minimal at best. The Chateau is beautifully appointed, spacious, well-kept and so very lovely. We felt a little guilty having this huge place to ourselves for the night but that quickly vanished as we realized we had first pick of the rooms we would occupy for our stay :) LOL The home is laid out so very well with a basement/sub level that had a washer/dryer, extra refrigerator, sitting area and sleeping quarters. The main level had enough space for our group with two “living areas” but our family leaned towards the kitchen and formal dining area. Upstairs on the top 2 floors are the bedrooms which met everyone’s sleeping arrangements. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms were clean and functional. I got some really great decorating ideas for my home. The pictures posted on AirBnB and Facebook are precise in my estimation. There were no surprises for me. Richard does an excellent job staying in touch and sharing information. Now for the community and other information. The Chateau is located in a quaint village called Poigny La Foret next to a small church. The church bells do toll but they never bothered me as I was enchanted with my surroundings and that added to the appeal of my stay. For food and restaurants, we headed to Rambouillet which is about a 10-minute drive. The town of Rambouillet had the train station which transported us to the city of Paris every day; as well as restaurants, patisseries and grocery stores. We became regulars at one of the patisseries; my 18-year-old niece and I would hop in the car and drive every morning to pick up croissants and pastries for breakfast before the rest of the family woke up. We also found a delicious creperie called La Creperie du Roi. Sweet and savory crepes were on the menu as well as the most refreshing virgin mojito I’ve ever had. And if you needed groceries the Franprix was in town too. We had secured from the airport the Navigo Decouverte weekly pass for 22.80 euros which allowed us to travel on train, buses and subways. We would park our car (which we acquired from the Avis 1.5 miles away) in the train station lot and hop on the train into Paris. The group loved that. We could either take the local train which was about an hour or the express train which was 30 minutes. We were on vacation so we switched it up. We wanted to experience local life as much as possible. I could go on and on BUT I will not. This was the BEST family trip ever. The Chateau is the most ideal spot for large families who want a piece of countryside charm with access to all that Paris has to offer."

We had booked the chateau for our families to stay at in September during our wedding weekend. Unfortunately, Covid necessitated a change to our plans and I was prepared for the worst when it came to rescheduling our event. Richard was an absolute saint through not only our planning process but also our cancellation process due to this special circumstance. He did more than he needed to do in this situation and it only makes me more excited to get to the chateau eventually. I highly recommend working with Richard!

Chateau de Poigny was spectacular! We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful and historic chateau. It easily caters for large groups of people as it was a very comfortable stay for our group of 22. It is beautifully furnished and in fantastic condition with all the charm of a chateau from this era. Whatever you are celebrating this chateau makes for a truly memorable experience. Great communication with host who is only too happy to help. The in-home chef experience is simply divine.

Myself and 20 other girls stayed here for a weekend getaway. It was beyond perfect- truly the most magical Beauty & the Beast type accommodations. The house was spacious & clean. The internet worked great. The owner of the house, Richard, was so accommodating. He went out of his way to help us plan. The house is an hour from Paris by car, so it is important that you set up transportation. There is a church next door that does have charming church bells, but they start ringing early, so be sure to bring earplugs. I would love to return her again- perfect for groups and families!

Spacious, homey, beautifully decorated and lots of bathrooms. Peaceful grounds, and cool church bells that ring (not too loudly) on the hour. Reasonable commute to Paris if you have a way to get to the train station which is about 15 minutes away. No air conditioning but not too hot at night if you open the windows.

The Chateau was even better than we expected (and I expected a lot!) We were a group of 15- we got married (second marriage) in the United States and brought our 10 children and some significant others to the Chateau for a "Destination Reception". The kids ranged in age from 14 to 29, and they were very excited that everyone got their own room (we even had 1 extra room)! There were plenty of bathrooms for this group of many teenagers/young 20's. The check in was seamless; Florence was there to meet us and showed us the important features. There were two openers for the gate, which was great. The week we were there was very hot, and when we first arrived we were concerned the top floor might be too warm, but it was very comfortable with the windows open and we had no problems with bugs. The basement rooms were much nicer than expected and two of the kids stayed there because it was also very cool in the hot weather. We had a meal prepared by Chef Laurent and it was one of the highlights of the trip! He was very nice, and professional. The food was unbelievable and the pace of the meal was perfect for us to all enjoy the meal and each others company. There was so much to explore inside and outside the house. There were hundreds of books throughout the house, antiques, decorations- however they were all well placed and at no time did I worry something would get knocked down or broken. The place looks formal in the pictures but the furniture is all-comfortable, the rooms large, and we felt very at home. We did not have any issues (everything worked in the kitchen, bathrooms, etc) but if there was a problem I felt like I had quick access to getting help from Richard or Florence. The distance to Paris from the Chateau turned out to be a non issue- we rented vans, got travel passes (23 Euro for the whole week) that covered the train/metro/buses and went in to Paris every day. The drive to the train station was never more than 14 minutes and there is a 35 min express train every hour from Rambouillet. We had no problems going in and coming back in different groups at different times (some liked to go in early, others stay out late!) and it is absolutely true, as other reviews have stated, that coming back together at the Chateau every evening was magical. Highly recommend this property!!
